Are you overwhelmed with feelings of dread and worry? Do your thoughts about the future make you feel hopeless, stressed or leave you feeling like you have no control. Do you sometimes find your heart racing, feel short of breath or feel shaky? Do you have difficulty sleeping and avoid social events for fear of someone noticing?
If this sounds like you, you may be suffering from anxiety and you aren’t alone. It is one of the most common mental health issues reported in America. It is estimated roughly 40 million Americans suffer from some form of anxiety and there is treatment. While depression is often related to ruminations about events in the past that we cannot control, anxiety is often ruminations or thoughts related to the future that we cannot control. Through the use of practices such as mindful self-compassion, meditation, visualization, challenging limiting beliefs as well as looking at childhood connections we can decrease or possibly eliminate anxiety. I will help you learn and change patterns of thinking and behavior that no longer serve you.
Common Concerns
Will I feel worse? What if I can’t tolerate the treatment?
We will work together to create feelings of safety to support the therapeutic process. By creating a safe foundation and methods to access feelings of safety we can look at what has contributed to the anxiety. Some related contributors could be trauma, unresolved childhood issues, learned patterns and beliefs that no longer work or related medical conditions.
Through the process of therapy and learning the underlying causes that need healing as well as learn to live more in the present we can work together to decrease, manage or possibly eliminate anxiety.
The ultimate goal is to help you develop the tools and practices to support yourself outside of the therapy session.
